Course description:
Problem-solving In Restorative Dentistry:
This is a practical course focusing on
occlusal problems that the restorative
dentist faces daily. It uses a “decision-tree”
developed by Dr. Tanaka which will help
the dentist determine how to manage
bruxism problems and the worn dentition,
when to splint teeth and which attachments
to use, and when to use a fixed vs. removable
prosthesis. (One or two days)
Esthetics & Occlusion: You Can’t Have
One Without the Other: This is a “must
attend” course for those performing
esthetic and cosmetic procedures.
Long-term success in esthetic dentistry
depends upon whether adverse tooth
loading forces are recognized and can
be controlled; and whether a functional
and stable occlusion are part of the
esthetic formula. How to achieve these
goals in unstable and dysfunctional
occlusions is the focus of this lecture/
participation presentation.
Professional background:
Dr. Tanaka is a clinical professor in graduate
prosthodontics at the University of Southern
California School of Dentistry, and maintains a
private prosthodontic practice in Chula Vista,
California. He is an internationally recognized
lecturer on TMD and advanced restorative
procedures, a diplomate of the American
Board of Orofacial Pain and has restorative
study groups in the US, Italy and Japan. He has
published numerous articles and his text and
videotapes are used in over 80 dental schools
throughout the world.
